Came here once and I'm not gonna lie. The service was good and the food was delicious fresh and made when you order. Can't say much about the location but overall the food it's delicious.
Great customer service, fresh food. I had got a shrimp fried rice, orange chicken, and noodles to go. But the restaurant definitely felt clean. I definitely recommend and would go back.
Great concept for vegans and non vegans as they have both types of menus. Food is cooked fresh to order and it's helpful to call in advance! Food wasn't overly salted either. I would order again. It's nice to have this option in the community.
Ultimate Xmas vibe, small but enough room to have a dinner with a friend or two. Have gone to this place twice now and it makes the most gourmet meal you have seen for such an affordable price. They provided excellent service and a great portion for the amount they charge. Underrated heavy, especially since it's right across the Compton center, behind Popeyes.
Sunny's always delivers. Updating with more pics. I have tried a few more items but these are some of my favorites. They have aqua frescas - I love the watermelon or passion fruit, and my homie usually gets Jamaica or horchata. In addition, they have vegan pizzas, and vegan desserts that can vary but usually a chocolate cake, carrot cake, and tiramisu. I've always been treated like a good friend when I go. The guys are clearly passionate about what they do and the food is on point every time. My friend ordered some platters for her birthday party and they were super accommodating with amazing customer service. They make efforts to boost the decor best they can if you dine in with cloth napkins and really dope crockery (the picture of the lomo saltado was in house dining - I could drink the sauce that comes with it haha). Please help me support this amazing business cuz the hood needs delicious vegan options too!
I just had the most amazing vegan tacos at Sunny Express in Compton, California, for Taco Tuesday. I walked in with friends, hoping the guacamole was vegan since some places sneak in bacon. To my delight, they had a full vegan menu--I knew it was going to be good! The tacos were perfectly seasoned, with just the right amount of fresh onions and cilantro, and a squeeze of lime that tied all the flavors together. The red taco, made with hibiscus asada, was phenomenal--trust me, it was outstanding! The best part? The Jamaica tea they serve is made from the same hibiscus pulp used for the taco filling, so there's zero waste. I was initially hesitant about the jackfruit taco, as it can be tricky to season, but it turned out absolutely perfect. Each taco comes with two tortillas, so I split them to create four mini tacos. I left with a spring in my step, filled with the joy of having one of the best vegan taco experiences ever. To wash it all down, I had a Jamaica tea (not pictured), which was a real quencher. Not too sweet, not too bitter--it was brewed and sweetened to perfection, making the meal even better knowing it was made sustainably. The price at Sunny Express is incredibly reasonable, making it an ideal spot for those who want to enjoy delicious, high-quality vegan food without spending too much. Whether you're ordering tacos or trying something from their vegan Chinese menu, you won't be breaking the bank. It's refreshing to find a place where healthy, plant-based food is so affordable. Another bonus: there's plenty of parking, which is always a plus in LA! Just a heads-up, though--they don't have a restroom, so make sure to find one before you visit. If you're not feeling tacos, they also offer a vegan Chinese menu that looked incredible from the photos. If you're in Compton and craving plant-based food, this spot should be at the top of your list!
Sunny Express Gourmet exceeded our expectations! As plant-based eaters, we loved their orange chicken and fried shrimp. The customer service was exceptional--Rico and the team made us feel like family. Easy parking, amazing food, and we'll definitely be back! Tommy
Found this restaurant off Yelp and it was my first time here. It over exceeded my expectations. The overall experience was amazing and will definitely be back. We support small businesses and this spot definitely has my vote. I am big on customer service over anything else and the owner and staff were very welcoming, friendly, and attentive. They said hello, catered to our needs and requests without hesitation and tended to us right away. Different staff members even asked a couple of times if we needed anything else and asked if the food was okay. It's a small spot, however everything looks put together and cozy inside. The decor was inviting and neatly arranged. The staff also bussed the tables immediately once patrons have eaten and left. They the place clean. We dined in and the presentation was everything. I have dined in before at many restaurants and used plastic cups, togo containers and plastic utensils. However, even for this small place, they used silverware and nice plates to serve the food and I was pleasantly impressed. The food was plated nicely. I really also appreciated that they brought everything to us without asking such as the hot sauce, soy sauce, water, etc. The food was surprisingly delicious! We are plant-based and it was tasty and had good flavors. The orange chicken, fried rice, egg rolls, and fried shrimps were so good we couldn't stop eating! We finished everything. Pricing was decent for the amount of portions. Plenty to get you full! Parking is a bit limited but found one right away. Will be coming back to try more items on the menu!
This place is a cross between traditional and vegan, and also Mexican and Chinese. So everyone should be able to find something that they like on the menu. I was surprised to read someone else's comment because the customer service was stellar. Our server, Rigo, asked if it was our first time. After we said yes, he made recommendations. My niece was just along for the ride, so she didn't get anything. I ended up going with the jackfruit taco plate. Those tacos were FIRE! The texture of the jackfruit was like shredded chicken... very pleasing. And the salsa was excellent too. I also got the day's special which was sweet chili chick'n. It came over white rice. It was okay but a little too sweet for my mood that day. The texture was good though. I will definitely go back and try other items.
Located right across from the courthouse, you might overlook this hidden gem! But the moment you walk inside, the aroma of comfort food will take over your senses. They serve both Mexican and Chinese food all day, I went for breakfast with my friend. I ordered the omelette with vegan bacon and she got the breakfast burrito with vegan sausage. Both of our food was made quickly and came out nice and hot. First bite was amazing, they had bell peppers, onions and tomatoes inside as well. The vegan bacon they used resembled "ham" more so than "bacon" but it was still delicious. Even after being full we still kept trying to finish our food because everything was so delicious. I took a bite of my friends burrito and was wowed all over again. I'm absolutely coming back to try the Chinese food because such great service and food lives here!
